HRKnowledgeBaseTM provides PACETM which is a Professional Career Transition Program to help job seekers prepare for a career change. The PACETM program helps job seekers prepare a winning a resume.

A good resume is the first step in getting your next position and it is essential to concentrate on the steps in â˜Building a Winning Resumeâ™ in order for employers to determine that youâ™re a good fit for their job, to call you for a phone screen, or to schedule a face-to-face interview. 

Think of it this way; if you are applying for jobs and not getting calls for phone screens or personal  interviews,  then your resume is not connecting with the employer for the advertised job, and your first step is to change your resume to something that will result in calls or contacts for interview.

There is a fair amount of personal data needed to prepare a winning resume.  To make this a simple process, this module is broken down into 5 sections which allows the job seeker to build their resume in incremental steps.
  • Section 1 helps job seekers identify appropriate resources (skills, experiences, knowledge, personal interests) which serves as the basis for their  for their next position.  This includes evaluating and including all professional and personal resources that might pertain to a job or be considered a transferable skill.  This area of evaluation by the job seeker is the basis on which the resume is built as well as identifying and then targeting specific jobs that might be a potential fit, given the job seekerâ™s experience, education, and interests.
  • Section 2 allows the job seeker to identify key accomplishments that they have achieved in various jobs and also their personal life which are essential to include when building a winning resume.
  • Section 3 involves goal setting which helps the job seeker define what they want in a career including responsibility, work environment, co-workers, boss, salary (and more).  The goal setting section is set up to project a job seekerâ™s plan from 1 to 5 years into the future and to ensure that the jobs to which the job seeker is applying are in line with their goals.
  • Section 4 uses the key accomplishments from Section 2 that the job seeker has identified and then prioritizes them to include the ones which would be perceived by the employer as marketable accomplishments.  The key to this section differentiating the job seeker with a higher value to potential employers is in understanding the importance of word choice in making a resume be appealing enough to an employer that they want to interview the job seeker.
  • Section 5 helps the job seeker put together the â˜Packageâ™ (aka resume) which is created from the previous four sections.  Section 5 helps job seekers prepare their resume in a format that appeals to employers.  Sample resumes are provided.  This section also includes sample cover letters.
